The Hard Lessons Kick it Old School
The Hard Lessons call themselves an old school rock n' roll band, and they're not kidding. Thier melodies drive, their guitar rips, and their lyrics shout. (Sometimes.) At other times, The Hard Lessons produce sweet melodies about love, loneliness and urban decay. Given that, they just might be the old school rock band for the modern age.
If you've never heard of them it might be because you haven't been watching enough television. Their song "Wicked Man," from 2006's EP Wise Up! was featured on NBC's Friday Night Lights and their song "Wedding Ring," from their new album Arms Forest, was featured on ABC's Grey's Anatomy.
But that's not why you should get to know The Hard Lessons. Know them because Arms Forest is beautiful and spirited, and at times, haunting. It's also pretty poppy. It's that blend that makes for a good listen, and a good time.
You've also got a pretty good chance of seeing The Hard Lessons live. This husband-and-wife duo have toured all over the US and Europe, are not about to slow down. As frontman Augie Visocchi told Rum Bum's Danielle Hartnett, "We play a lot of shows and that's what we love to do."
