The Ragbirds Fly Home
The Ragbirds play folksy world music the likes of which you don't hear every day. Which is a shame because their stuff is quite good. Fronted by singer, violinist and banjo player extraordinaire Erin Zindle, the Ragbirds have a sound that reflects elements of the world around them. Listen to them, and you'll hear notes of Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the American South.
But you won't quite be transported. Rather, The Ragbirds inspire the listener to think about their own worlds, their own lives, their own dreams. It's this that makes their music the perfect soundtrack to take along on your way to work; the scenery may be the same, but you just might find it changed.
After having recently done a few stints in Japan, where The Ragbirds enjoy a success they've yet to find at home, The Ragbirds returned home to Michigan where they rocked ROTHBURY with their fun, lively and worldly show. After their show, Rum Bum's Danielle Hartnett sat down with two of The Ragbirds - Zindle and her husband and drummer Randall Moore - to discuss their work, their new album and the Dalai Lama's advice for us all.
