Rapping with Electric Touch
You have to look twice at a band that sites DH Lawrence and David Bowie as influences. But you have to wonder – what would DH Lawrence-influenced music sound like? A bit slow at first? Blatantly, overtly, and bravely before its time? Uh, no.
It turns out Electric Touch's music is just the opposite. It's poppy and not at all cutting-edge. But that's OK. Electric Touch makes music that is fun and free. You can drive to it, sing to it and dance to it all at the same time.
In their music, you can hear hints of 80s and 90s British and American pop. And that makes sense – the band is three parts Texan, one part Brit and several parts "Nah, Nah, Nah." Coursing through it all is the terrific guitar playing of guitarist Christoper Leigh that, in some songs, harkens The Edge.
And that is as good a reason as any to keep an eye this four-piece band from Austin.
