Kitty, Daisy & Louis
The best musicians have a profound appreciation for music; and, especially, for the music that came before them. If that is the case, then Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, the sibling team from the UK, are pretty darned good.
You can hear their utter fandom in each of their songs. Whether it's the sweet uke and xylophone laden jazz swing tune "Baby Hold Me Tight," or their down-home, blusey version of "Up the Country," Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are having a great time playing the music they love. The band seems unafraid of convention or of being boxed in by a single genre. Rather, they play what they like on what they like. They're no digitized tracks tracks here. Just music raw as the moment it was created.
It will be interesting to watch Kitty, Daisy & Lewis as they mature (the oldest of the sibling team is 21) and find their own, unique sound that borrows from everything they love (R&B, swing, jump blues, country and Western, blues, Hawaiian and rock 'n' roll) and stretches beyond the confines of any single genre. They're not quite there yet. But they're still a fun, impressive listen.
