Black Gold Makes Music You'll Love

Black Gold is a synth-rock band from Brooklyn, NY that plays terrifically accessible pop. The kind of pop you loved as a teenager; the kind that still makes it to the radio. Which is not the say that Black Gold has made it to the radio. Not yet anyway.

The couple of synth-pop rockers got together after touring with the likes of Rachel Yamagata and Panic! at the Disco and decided they dug each other and started a band. Their debut album, Rush, dropped in February, and they've been playing out in support of it ever since.

Although the band may take itself seriously, referring to the notion of Black Gold as: "...the feeling when it hits your bloodstream, the unease at five a.m. after staying up all night doing things you regret but will do again and again...the taste of blinding white, the numbness on your lips and throat....the corrosion you've swallowed, with comforting warmth tempered by unease....the release that makes you hiss," their music is poppy and fun enough to make you forget all that darkness. (And maybe that's the point.) Even their song titled "Breakdown" is a fun one.

Soon, Black Gold may be singing about a "breakout" because the more people who listen to their album, the more fans they'll win. They're just that good.
