Steel Train Arrives
The only thing more fun than listening to Steel Train has got to be playing in the band. These guys look like they're having such genuine fun that they remind you of a couple of teenagers in a garage, living out their rock n' roll dreams. Only these are fully formed adults and they are living out their dreams - big time.
Steel Train has recently toured with some pretty big names including Ben Folds, Dashboard Confessional and Gomez - hitting cities large and small with their cotton-candy rhythms, and even getting some mega exposure on The Tonight Show.
As for the music itself, Steel Train sounds just like candy being made. Their youthfully reminiscent "I Feel Weird" may take on such weighty subjects as death (and the downing of the twin towers), but the rhythms behind the music are so light that the music itself will never bring you down (no matter how hard the lyrics try).
Rum Bum's Danielle Hartnett caught up with Steel Train at All Points West, where they were playing for a hometown crowd. They talked friendship, bar mitzvahs and their new album, Trampoline.
