Miike Snow is No Animal
If you haven't heard of Miike Snow you have most likely heard their handy work. Two of the groups three members, Pontus Winnberg and Kristian Carlsson, produced Britney Spears' 2004 hit "Toxic." But don't expect to hear bubble gum in Miike Snow. Together with Andrew Watt, the trio produces cool, low key electronically infused pop. Their tune "Silvia" gets regular play on KCRW while the intelligent tune "Animal" is a fan favorite.
The album by the same name was just released by Sony. It is very, very good. More specifically, the writing is good, the vocals are soothing, the beats, though on the cool side, are nearly danceable.
You have to figure that most people who join a band and produce an album expect – or at least hope, in their heart of hearts – that it makes them all big rock stars. But lead singer Andrew Wyatt recently told ClashMusic.com that they're surprised by the attention of their new album and that when they started they were just "three people messing about." So mess about some more, please.
