(Los Campesinos') Lolla Video Interview

You! Me! Stitting Down for an Interview!

Los Campesinos is really into their own music. But who can blame them? The indie pop band from Cardiff, Wales plays wonderfully intelligent indie pop music that's dark as it is light, serious as it is goofy. To listen to them is the bounce up and down, cheer and scream and then say: "Hmmm, yes, smart," as though you were looking at a particularly good piece of art.

With songs like "We're Beautiful, We're Doomed," which quickly waxes poetic on the state of modern life with lyrics like "the future's bright as halogen, we know it's pretty bleak; I'm trying to be sexy, biting at the air in front of me," you know you're in for a wild ride, filled with juxtapositions and intelligent turns of phrase. But the best thing about Los Campesinos isn't how smart they are, it's the cacophony of sound that the seven – seven! – band members create when they really get going (as they do pretty much all of the time). Plus, songs like "I Feel Weird" sound just like candy being made. Now aren't you curious?

Catch them next in jolly ol' England where they'll be playing a smattering of small club shows. After that, they go back into the studio. Bad news for those of us in the U.S. who'd like to see them again, good news for Los Campesinos fans everywhere.
