The Raveonettes Darken the Mood
The Raveonettes play dark, fun music reminiscent of '60s surf rock. It's those light underpinnings that lift The Raveonettes' music from the dark and dismal worlds their songs create, which are downright bleak, if not strangely alluring. (There's a David Lynch flick somewhere in these songs. Listening to them, you almost want to see a collaboration that would bring these dark and twisted characters to life.)
Sharin Foo's light, sweet, vaporous vocals also juxtapose the dark lyrical content – bringing the songs up to the level of true art.
The band is currently in the studio recording their fourth album, In And Out of Control, which will come on the heels of 2008's Lust, Lust, Lust. The new album will be released on October 6 and The Raveonettes will be touring it heavily, criss-crossing the U.S. with their good-times / bad-times shtick.
