Picking Up on Cotton Jones
Cotton Jones makes beautiful and dreamy music reminiscent of the blissed-out sixties (or any blissed-out time, really). But Cotton Jones is rooted in the 60s. Formally of the Baltimore-based band, Page France, Cotton Jones' Michael Nau and Whitney McGraw discovered a shared a appreciation for 60's psych-pop and decided to leave Page France to experiment in the loose, light psychedelic music of the era.
What comes of this exploration is Paranoid Coocoon a wonderful lo-fi jaunt backwards in time. It will make you want to lie in the grass and watch the light change; which is to say, it will make you want to do a lot of nothing; but sometimes nothing is exactly the thing to do. So, fortify your soul: put on some Cotton Jones, go outside and lie in the grass. Watch the light change. Feel groovy.
