Catching Up with Kraak and Smaak
Kraak & Smaak dropped by our diggs today. The band from Amsterdam is influenced by 70's Funk and Electronic beats. Originally started as studio project they quickly became one of the hottest live and DJ properties in dance music. During the last 3 years they have become Holland's hottest live act and as they release their second album things seem to get crazier. They are definitely a must see live band.
Since releasing their album "Boogie Angst" they have performed over 200 gigs and during their set in Ultra they performed with their band coupled with a keyboard, FX and percussion. They mentioned to us they like to perform for the student audience as well as large festival crowds. They incorporate a dance feel into their music in order to create a slice of funk. They are currently producing a new album and have already released their single "Squeeze me". You can expect their new album to sound a little more grown up than their first one. They also told us their dream collaboration is to work with Thom Yorke from Radiohead. So if anyone can hook it up they are ready and waiting! After working with many of their heroes their music has had a great effect but they mentioned they still want to write tracks that rock it on the dance floor.
