Hangin' with Carl Cox
Carl Cox, the legendary British techno and house DJ, dropped by at our Rum Bum tent. He has been part of the Britain dance scene for years following the musical trends of Disco to Hip-Hop, but it was not until after the introduction of house in Britain that he realized he had found his niche.
He started his career as a hardcore and acid house DJ in the mid-80's and made a name for himself at the 1988 Second Summer of Love when he started playing three turntables at once. Carl Cox is the first person to be named number one DJ in the world on DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJ poll when he won in 1997. He is currently working on a DVD based on his life where fans can see exclusive interviews from his family and friends. Fans will also be able to see the other "side of him" when he isn't making music.
He tells Rum Bum he has received great feedback this year at ultra and he feels it's his responsibility to make sure the festival has the best DJ's and artists. He also tells us that the energy he has is the energy he gets back from his fans when he performs.
Check out Rum Bum's Adriana Lobos chatting with him above.
