The Bloodier the Better

Anytime you hear the word ‘bloody,' you can't expect spic-and-span; which is why The Bloody Beetroots have gained notoriety as a ‘dirty' duo. When it comes to breaking down beats and making turntable magic, words like ‘nasty' and ‘filthy' become the best compliments you can throw out there. After bringing down the roof over at Mansion on Tuesday night around 2 a.m., we weren't sure what we were in store for at Ultra and from the Italian duo who's toured with Steve Aoki - and have been compared to Justice, which is pretty much the highest of praises.

Sure enough, The Bloody Beeroots threw down hardcore sampling international tracks, including hits from MSTRKRFT and Chromeo, while mashing up Electronica/Punk/Rap/ House/Funk. Holding it down on the Biscayne Bay Stage, Bloody paired their set with a mesmerizing slide show to accompany the madness with electric tapestries in motion as the dirty and devilish dancers killed it on the pavement. They sported their signature Spiderman masks and so did a few fans down below.

Even though there was plenty going on over at a half-dozen stages and tents, when Bloody gets down, you just can't seem to do anything but plant your feet and dance it out. As dirty as they wanna be, the term ‘happy as a pig in sh*t' seemed to be more appropriate than ever at Ultra at 11 p.m. Friday night.
