... a bit Pete Tong
As the saying goes, Everything went a bit Pete Tong when the artist stopped at our Rum Bum tent but there's nothing wrong with that! The English DJ who has done it all from producing, Djing and broadcasting, stopped by to discuss his thoughts on Ultra and his future projects.
Pete is known by Electronic music fans for hosting programs such as, "Essential Mix" and "Essential Selection" on the radio. Pete told us that as a child his interest was in drumming but soon moved onto Djing when he first played at a friends wedding at the young age of 15. While at school, he and a couple of friends earned some extra money by promoting local bands and booking halls. After leaving school, he set up a mobile disco based in a transit van, but he soon started his own club in Baker Street called Family Function. In 1979, he went off to become a writer for "Blues & Soul Magazine" and was later promoted to editor. He later left and joined London Records as an A&R manager. It was there where Pete Tong would be exposed to House music from Chicago and in 1986 created a compilation album, "The House Sound of Chicago". With so much experience under his belt, Pete Tong has become one of the worlds most recognized DJ's drawing people from all around the world.
