Icey Icey Baby!
There is nothing cold about DJ Icey and nothing babyish about DJ Baby Anne. These Florida natives have been putting on a show for years with their energetic breakbeat style. During Ultra the pair stopped by our tent and discussed their future projects and thoughts on the festival.
While DJ Icey brings that funk to the table, Baby Anne brings that Bass forming; the best tag-team in breakbeat music. It’s no surprise these two are great friends, both Florida natives have always had a great love and passion for music. DJ Icey began his career in the mid-90’s and maintained a following in the Orlando club scene for years with over 200 singles under his belt. DJ Icey was the first American producer to be signed to DJ Pete Tong’s U.S label.
While DJ Icey continued to raise the bar on the breakbeat music scene, he came across a young lady who would later become his “partner in crime”. This young lady was Baby Anne, who has always been a music lover and started collecting records in elementary school. But it was her passion for dancing that would get her noticed. DJ Icey had always seen Baby Anne busting out moves on the dance floor but it was not until 1992 that he encouraged her to start spinning. He told her to buy a table and practice and he would get her bookings. Baby Anne bought her first pair of Technics and never looked back. She has released four records on Icey's Zone Records and Records Imprint as well as new records on the PHATTRAXX label. DJ Icey and Baby Anne have been playing at Ultra back to back for about 7 years, combining their breakbeat energy and heavy doses of Bass. They completely rocked the dance floor at Ultra. Expect Baby Anne’s album by the end of May and Icey’s new album by the end of July.
