Stepping Toward Sustainability
President’s Day marks the final day of the Miami International Boat Show, so make sure you take advantage of the hundreds of vendors and marine exhibits before they’re gone till next year.
Of these vendors, one stands out for going above and beyond the call of a sailor’s duty. I’m talking about Trans Marine Pro, a company paving the way for alternative energy products for sailing, that’s making waves in world philanthropy in more ways than one.
At their boat show booth, Trans Marine’s owner, Cameron Murray, an accomplished sailor (winning the

You can also see highly energy efficient marine LED lights and his solar panels.
Murray and his family of four know more than anyone how reliable and economical their Trans Marine products are. Their “floating home” (a sailboat named “Tranquility”) runs strictly on two of their D4000s, three 165 Watt solar panels, and other of their energy efficient, conservation-oriented products.
Trans Marine’s Earth-friendliness goes way beyond their product line. Murray is currently working in conjunction with OceansWatch in the effort to “Sail Aid to Haiti”. Every dollar donated will go to food, medical supplies, and other necessities for a volunteer crew to sail (using a wind-powered sailboat, of course) aid directly to the people of Haiti – especially in nearby islands and remote villages.
At the show, ask Murray’s wife, Leighia, to explain a little about the 2,000 pairs of brightly decorated tennis shoes that were just donated. The Murrays will deliver those and other products at the end of February when they embark on a mission to Haiti themselves.
